Coaching to improve
performance can provide executives and mangers with the means to change attitude,
knowledge and behavior. Some areas in which we provide coaching include:
|
|
"...the
activities related to the highest levels of self-improvement after the
use of a 360° feedback instrument were: reviewing progress at least quarterly, obtaining input into development
planning from co-workers and receiving coaching and feedback...and
while most influential, they were the least often used."

...coaching
for the executive's agenda. |
Case Study
|
Coaching of this nature is well-suited
when: |
-
Information
or feedback is not reaching the executive. Typically
those
close to the executive
are afraid to bring up "bad" news.
-
If a fear of
being "killed as the messenger" prevents employees from talking honestly with their
own bosses, we can provide
critical feedback and information others will not (Besides, the consultant
can always be killed!).
-
Insight
and perspective are needed on the executive's ideas and decisions,
often needed because fellow employees are unable to listen
without bias.
-
The pressure of the position requires the executive to develop
"psychological hardiness" to manage extreme levels of
stress.
-
An executive needs to prepare to successfully implement specific
change initiatives that require an understanding of the
psychological and system factors that influence the
effort.

"In a study of 481
corporate chiefs, results found that 70% of them are introverts with their need for social
interaction much lower than that of the average population. This trait, compounded with
their treatment as a symbol rather than as a human being, makes their role even more
isolating."

Management Coaching for the Engineer, Scientist, or Technician.
We provide coaching and assistance to ease the transition from engineer, scientist, or technician to a technical leader. We clarify the difference between a technical resource and a team leader, and the difference between doing things right and doing the right thing. We can help a new manager understand the new expectations placed on him or her and provide the tools to ensure success in a new management role.
Our coaching further helps mid-level technical experts shift from an often narrower tactical perspective to a broader strategic viewpoint.....key for any promotion to an executive level and a prerequisite to function effectively on an executive management team.
Technical Turnaround Management
We also assist in turning around troubled projects for short and medium term assignments. Ideal for getting under-performing projects back on track, bridging from the loss of a key leader until a new permanent employee can be recruited, covering for a key management team member during an extended leave of absence, or providing temporary leadership for a short term project.
